Alaska's medical cannabis program was established in 1998 and is regulated by the Alaska Department of Health. Recreational cannabis was legalized in 2014 and is regulated by the Alcohol and Marijuana Control Board.

- Medical patients under 21 cannot purchase directly and must use registered caregivers aged 21+.
- Non-residents cannot register for Alaska medical cannabis program; however, out-of-state visitors can purchase marijuana at licensed retail shops by showing a valid government-issued ID.
